Private pilot. PBS Haulage runs live at haulage.pascoesystems.co.uk as a demonstration on a made-up Isle of Wight haulage, plant hire, skip, aggregates and waste firm - every customer, site, person, lorry, machine and job in it is invented, and its price list is a sample. Accounts are issued on request. Where each of our products stands is stated plainly.

What it does

Deliveries, collections, skip exchanges, plant hire and muck-away run on one board, and every job shows what it charged and - to the people allowed to see it - what it cost to run.

Every lorry’s day, built for you

Build the day puts each job on a lorry that can carry it, in the order it drives, with road times, inside each customer’s window and back at the yard by the end of the day. Drag a stop to another lorry and both are re-timed; anything that could not be placed is listed with why.

Tickets you can trace end to end

Weigh a load and its net tonnes go on the job at the list price. Type a ticket number to see its whole chain: where it came from, the lorry and driver, the customer’s order number, the drop with the driver’s pin and signature, and the statement it is on.

Waste paperwork, signed on the phone

Waste transfer notes and hazardous-waste consignment notes are filled in from the job and signed on the driver’s phone at the collection, with or without signal. A signed waste transfer note is emailed to the customer as a PDF by itself; every note is kept and opens as a PDF.

Plant hire and the fleet’s checks

Book plant, cabins and toilets out on hire from what is free; an item whose LOLER, PUWER or PAT has run out cannot go out. Drivers do the walkaround on the phone, and a dangerous defect takes the lorry off the road until the repair is signed off.

A portal for your customers

A customer with a portal login sees only their own jobs, tickets, signed waste notes and statements, and can ask for a delivery of your aggregates to one of their sites - it arrives on your schedule as requested.

Statements for your accounts package

Build a customer’s statement from their finished jobs and tickets, issue it to their portal, and take a CSV for Xero or QuickBooks. Lines for construction services under the VAT reverse charge carry no VAT and say why.

What it does not do

It does not report to Defra

Its link to Defra’s Digital Waste Tracking is built and being tested, and Defra has not accepted it. Until it does, each load is reported through Defra’s own service, and PBS Haulage keeps your record of it.

It certifies nobody, and files nothing

It does not take card payments from your customers, send texts, send anything to Xero or QuickBooks by itself, or file tax returns. Its registers are records, not approvals: it makes no vehicle, driver or load compliant and nobody accredited.

If this is the work you run

Tell us how you run your lorries, hire and tickets now, and we will show you the demonstration against it - and tell you honestly whether it fits.
